New Jersey’s most famous politician (and America’s sweetheart), Mayor Cory Booker, is world-famous for being helpful. Earlier this year he saved his Newark neighbor from a house fire (yes, he carried her out) and throughout Superstorm Sandy he’s been tweeting to people in need, even inviting random Twitter followers over to his house for dinner, electricity and warmth.

And what does Cory Booker reply back?

And the guy is on the ground, delivering goods to people in need right and left, including baby supplies to a mom who just brought home a new baby to a home with no heat or electricity:

But there’s one thing Mayor Booker can’t help you with—problems outside Newark.
Here’s a tweet from yesterday, in response to a guy from Ireland pretending to be complain about a pothole in Newark:

Yes, the good Mayor just paraphrased Jay-Z!
Good man, Mayor Booker.
Cory Booker is a good man. I don’t know enough of Chris Christie to say either way. The “Dear Leader” stuff is juvenile; you really should aspire to more.
Listen, Christie seems great. I’m not knocking him at all, but Cory Booker is actually a celebrity at this point, regardless of how he got there.
How do you define celebrity? I don’t think your knocking Christy, I just don’t agree that Cory Booker is a bigger name. Like I said, whenever I have traveled outside of New Jersey, people ask me about Governer Christy. In the state of New Jersey, people largely talk about Gov. Christy and what he is doing. And while it’s cool that Booker personally invited someone to his home and he is a Hero for helping with that fire, going gaga over him for personally inviting a person to his home vs the Governor that is dealing with a contrastophy on… Read more »
Erins right! Christie took a page out of Rudys 9/11 playbook and totally immerssed himself in the details of the recovery from Sandy(as a New Yorker, I can only look with envy after listening to the emperor Bloomberg and the Great BloviatorComo). Booker’s a stud and a stand up guy, but he’s still in ‘Dear Leaders doghouse for daring to Question some of the attack ads and if in fact ‘Dear Leader’ is re-elected , he will have to grove lto his politurboro.
Hey, maybe he can ask Oprah to put in a good word for him the next time she’s ‘Hangin’ with Dear Leader’ and Michelle!
A) Cory Booker is New Jersey’s most well recongnized politician? Umm..how about the actual Governor: Chris Christy.
B) Yes, it’s most excellent that Booker, a respected politician, used a highly misognistic song reference that refers to women as “bitches”.
Come on. It’s really time we pay attention to how we talk about each other and the cultural references we use casually or even jokingly.
Erin, you really think that Chris Christie is the most recognizable politician in New Jersey?
For those following this storm, sure. but for the rest of the country, not so much.
Cory Booker is friends with OPRAH! Oprah trumps all when it comes to cultural references.
I do think Chris Christy is the most recognizable politician in New Jersey Joanna. Talk to any actual New Jerseyan and they are going to talk about Christy first, Booker second. I’m from New Jersey and anywhere I go, after people ask me where I am from, the second thing they ask me about is Governor Christy. Not Cory Booker. But like you said, Cory Booker is Oprah’s golden boy. That holds a lot of power. But then if that’s the case, it’s really Oprah that is being recognized, not Booker. I also think the bipartisan media plays it’s role.… Read more »
