Do you want more stress in your life? If you want to live a long time, additional stress isn’t going to help you.
Minimalism may not be the best lifestyle, but I’ll argue that it’s a better lifestyle for most people. Minimalizing your life gives you more freedom — a gift that many people covet in their lives.
Minimalism isn’t a difficult philosophy. It’s an aim to make a significant minimalization in multiple aspects of your life. You don’t need to minimalize every aspect because it could make things inconvenient or unnecessary.
As a perpetual traveler, minimalism is a necessity for me. It didn’t take too long for me to learn that traveling three pieces of luggage was unnecessary. Sadly, I was hauling around one suitcase for almost a year and rarely used the contents within it.
My minimalist lifestyle varies depending on whether I’m living in the U.S. or abroad. Within the USA, I may take public transit for trips that are heavily served by commercial transit companies. Alternatively, I’ll use a car for trips to areas harder to access with public transit.
For example, if I’m traveling to Boston from Philadelphia, I’d rather buy a MegaBus ticket because it wouldn’t take much longer to arrive there and the commuting costs would be significantly less. Although, if I was traveling to West Virginia, I’d probably drive my car because most of that state isn’t served by public transit.
Many people will make these commuting decisions without much thought, which already makes them somewhat familiar to minimalism. However, there are lifestyle choices that would require more consideration for minimalization without sacrificing comfort.
After a few years of trial and error, I embraced some lifestyle hacks to minimize my expenses without sacrificing much convenience or comfort.
In the below playlist, I talk more about minimalism among the beautiful scenery of Western Colorado.
