What habit is holding you back?
Think about it.
What small thing could you change that would have the biggest impact on your life?
For me, the thing that kills my productivity and time management the most is Facebook.
That’s right.
Facebook.
And I know some people have quit Facebook, especially after tiring of arguing politics with that guy from 9th-grade biology. That guy you hardly knew in school, but now know that his wife makes the best pork chops ever, his kid is the coolest, and that he has some really “interesting” ideas on proven scientific facts.
That guy makes me roll my eyes so hard I fear I may break something.
I’ve spent hours arguing with this guy. And he’s never going to change his opinion on climate change, abortion, or anything else. He’s NEVER going to see things my way. And I’m never going to see things his way.
So what’s the point?
There really isn’t any. And I’d probably just give Facebook the middle finger and log off permanently, except it does serve some really important functions in my life.
It’s a great tool for networking and meeting new people with common interests. It’s great for promoting the classes I teach. Creating groups is a user-friendly way to work on projects with others. I’ve even gotten some dates and started romantic relationships with women I’ve connected with on Facebook.
But it’s also a time suck.
And I’ve agreed to do The Good Men Project December Spiffy Writing challenge!
I’ll be writing 31 posts in 31 days.
There will be joy. Tears. Coffee.
Possibly revolution!
Definitely a cocktail or two.
There will also be a need to manage my time effectively. So, the easiest rule to put into place is the “No Facebook Rule”.
There will be no Facebook until the daily post is written.
Sorry not sorry, biology guy. I’ve got stuff to do.
