What can you discover exploring a city by foot?
I was on a 10 day-long trip in Italy and visiting Rome was obviously a must.
Most of these scenes are just me walking around the city. Since we spent 3 full days walking everywhere (literally anywhere), there were a ton of shots that didn’t make the final cut. What’s more, most of those scenes last a second or so, even though those walking shots were anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes. Speaking of why we chose the ones we did, it’s quite simple: at first when I’m walking simply forward, you need the most beautiful shots—where the road is nice, or the buildings are nice, or the stairs are nice. You also want to have me with different outfits. Then at some point, you need to change what I’m doing to keep seizing people’s interest, so I turn around or walk around something. Again, you go with shots that all do the same thing so that you could change the shot and it’d look as if nothing changed (as if I time traveled).
I like to touch parts of the city, it adds a good personal feeling to the videos, because people see how I’m exploring my surroundings. I think they might feel as if they’re exploring the place themselves.
At the end of the video, there are 3 places you can go to:
- the Colosseum;
- the Roman Forum;
- and an awesome park that we named “Epic Park”.
All of these things are big parts of the city and its culture. I tried to show as much of them as I could. Ideally, I want people, who have never been to Rome, to feel as if they kind of have.
I hope my video accomplishes that 🙂
