When I was struggling to move forward in life, I used to hate Monday (what a cliche, amirite!?)
But seriously…
I used to hate the process of forcing myself to manufacture the energy needed to endure another week of whatever life had in store for me.
I cringed at the idea of having to soldier my way through another 5 days until I could reach the safe asylum of a distracting weekend.
I wasted years of my life staying stuck in this cycle of ENDURE and DISTRACT.
ENDURE this month, DISTRACT with a much-needed vacation.
ENDURE the week, DISTRACT with a weekend of binging on food, movies and mimosas (I hate bloody mary’s).
ENDURE the day, DISTRACT with an evening of social media, Netflix or happy hour.
I was either in a state of stressed-out self-pity…
Or a state of stimulus-driven distraction.
And I was so stuck in this cycle that I couldn’t see what was really happening.
I was dying.
I was letting life pass me by as I poured my potential down the drain.
I was settling for less than I deserved because I was too busy convincing myself that there was no other way.
Obviously, the first step in solving any problem is becoming aware of it.
And as much as it may sting, ask yourself. “Are you living in a cycle of endure and distract?”
