Being sacred in modern times means to be sustainable in your daily living and being. To be thought of as being sustainable translates to being accountable for every step and every breath taken in your journey of living. You would want to be able to not leave a larger footprint upon the planet and you have a visionary plan to leave the planet in a better shape than you had found it, to treat the planet with respect.
To be sacred is to give reverence, respect to an entity, living or dead. Being sacred means you are devoted to the spiritual connection of all things created. To be spiritual means to be related or joined in spirit of inclusiveness, an honoring of your sense of home. To become more rooted in sacredness you find the need to live more intentionally with an art of living that lends itself to being devotional in your living. You develop rituals of living that allow you to become more fluid to the natural flow of life. The most natural thing human beings perform is breathing or simply following the trail of a river creating its home.
To be sacred in this modern world is to have a deeper sense or value for the human story and the breath of life that has been given to each and every human being on this planet.
I call myself a sacred artist in modern times because I am a sustainable artist who exists in the world of solution as a prayer practitioner in my production process and the maintenance of my intention utilizing my various art forms I practice in order to create. My primary intention is to take the gifts I have been given and then use my gifting to express my highest self as I give myself in an art form of story. I intend to use my human story to support my individual story while I act as a facilitator to improve the larger human story. I want to wash the hand that is feeding me. I want to breathe like leaves breathe.
I believe my life is sacred, as well as my purpose for living and being born into this planet. My personal value or story is my chapter or paragraph that belongs in the overall human storybook. The story does not flow if the lines and chapters of the book don’t twist and turn like a weaving of a rug, a blanket or a quilting story hanging on a family wall.
Being a part of the historical story of men living in a man box, being a creative man of color I feel I could do my part in reweaving the story in an effort to change the rules for an authentic scripting with mindful edits of the unfolding lines. So my response to modern life is a response of sacredness in an effort to aid the quality of human life. I create to elevate.
I cannot change history, but I can do my part to enhance the future story. I intend to honor, support, and respect this world’s future and the futures of its people.
My experience of growing up with my fellow men of this planet has not always been a good one. The struggle for power and the narrative of living within the man box only causes the world of men to be one of being toxic. The struggle to stay human while you were asked to be a living rock of courage as the traditional hunter and gatherer. The man in a box was not allowed to have feelings and open emotions. You cannot wage war with a loving heart and a compassionate ear. You cannot create change existing inside of a box.
The waging of war does not seem to be solving our world problems. So, maybe it is time to try a new by actualizing an ancient way of being proactive. It is a sacred way of seeing and being in the world. Instead of separation and division, we could use inclusion and compassion as weapons or tools of solution.
We are being called to be more than we have ever been asked to do. We are being asked to turn our personal visioning of supporting “me and my family” to “we and our world family.” We are a global community birthing in change that redefines power and its execution. The men are coming out of the man box, as well as women coming out in a new heart-based leadership. It is a time to be sacred with intention, as we grow and learn together for world evolution. We have the capacity to become better people with a better plan of living for this modern world, just on the other side of the portal door of change.
