Have you ever felt like giving up? I know I have, dozens of times…but I have not ultimately gone down that road, because it’s a dead end. As we are nearing the end of 2018, it’s an auspicious and powerful time to reflect on key events in our lives, our challenges, our wins, our miracles. Take time to celebrate yourself. Celebrate your obstacles, your breakthroughs, your revelations, your discoveries. There is such richness in doing this—you can be sure that you will discover pure gold. I have been engaged in this contemplation, and I am inspired to share with you a few thoughts about not giving up and resiliency.
Resiliency is defined as the “ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like; buoyancy.” Most of us have found ourselves being challenged by one or more of these occurrences in life, and most of us have also experienced buoyancy. I’ve asked myself what it is inside of us that gives us the ability time and again to be resilient and not give up. I believe it’s the power of the human spirit.
Resiliency is one of the most important virtues that we can have. Have you noticed that throughout history, the human race is very resilient? We all face difficulties, challenges, and setbacks, but if we go deep within, hang on, and trust ourselves and the Divine, we come out on the other side, stronger than before.
It seems at times that it would be much easier to give up. It sometimes feels like we cannot take a single step further, that we’re done—it may feel like the pain of our circumstances is too overpowering. But, if we allow those emotions, that intensity, that heaviness to move through us and out of us, we are victorious.
“When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
~Harriet Beecher Stowe
Isn’t it brilliant that each one of us has the ability to access the inherent strength that lies within us? Sometimes friends or family are there to encourage us to not give up and help move us out of the throes of these heavy emotions and feelings of despair. Sometimes we may read an inspiring book or listen to music and it uplifts us and transports us to positive energies. Ultimately, it is our responsibility to keep moving forward, and we can draw on our innate resilience that has proven itself time after time. We are never alone. We have an extraordinary inner strength within us. We are designed to be resilient. We are divine beings.
“On one hand, we know that everything happens for a reason, and there are no mistakes or coincidences. On the other hand, we learn that we can never give up, knowing that with the right tools and energy, we can reverse any decree or karma. So, which is it? Let the Light decide, or never give up? The answer is: both.” “Never, never, never give up.”
~ Yehuda Berg
It is through my personal challenges and digging deep within to discover that innate inner strength and resiliency that led me to become a musician and singer. The name of my band, My Silent Bravery, symbolizes persistence, perseverance and inner strength to overcome obstacles in the face of adversity. My mission is to help inspire others to do the same by delivering positive messages to the masses through the music of My Silent Bravery. My intention with my songs is to provide fuel for the soul and hope for the world… and you’re a part of that intention coming to life. I have traveled around the world over the past years and I am always delighted to see the power of the human spirit. No matter what challenges I have faced before or since entering the world of music, I know that I have the ability to weather the storms, to be buoyant, to be resilient, to never give up. I have experienced this to my core and these experiences led me to write songs about being “Willing To Try” “Can’t Quit”, and “Breakthrough” among others. And, I know that you have that well of resilience inside you.
I welcome you to share your personal stories of resilience. And, I look forward to connecting with you whether through my column for The Good Men Project, through my website at mysilentbravery.com, or through my weekly Facebook Live show on MSB TV. I can’t wait to meet you in person at a show on the road, through this column, social media, or on MSB TV streamed on Facebook.com/mysilentbravery on Tuesday evenings at 8:30 pm EST.
I wish you the most wonderful holiday season.
And remember…
“Never, never, never give up.”
~Winston Churchill
