Living in a time where hundreds of photos and videos idealizing ‘the perfect beauty image’ bombard people every day, making it almost impossible for them to remember the fact that beauty is subjective and varies strongly from different cultures and timelines.
To Be Or Not To Be
Almost every person would like to change something about themselves in terms of physical appearance or anything else. Some would dye their hair, cut it in different lengths, maybe change their wardrobe, try to find ways to mold their physique into something that makes them different than what they currently are. People do things in order to find ways to somehow improve their appearance, to somehow seem more attractive to others. Although there are multiple ways in which people can change by adapting to a healthier lifestyle and diet that would not only make them feel good but also make them look good by clearing up their skin, detoxing the body and so much more. However, most people prefer taking the easy way out, through chemical treatments and other possible solutions. Healthy foods and drinks might lay the groundwork, but people often desire the extra bit to tweak their appearances and attractiveness. For example, someone might eat healthily, yet also apply various creams and lotions onto their skin and take different vitamins to give it the extra nutrients it deserves to glow and looks fresh.
Wanting healthier skin and working towards improving it are great choices, and this is the time for more people to join the Clear Skin Regime that would encourage and aid them in keeping their inner and outer selves healthy. Having said that, humans and their obsession with wanting a fairer complexion might never sit right with those who understand the reality of nature and acceptance. In many countries, people associate having healthy skin with having fair skin. Even though the two things have absolutely no correlation between each other.
Confusing brown complexion with impurity is a very common and old practice that is still being practiced in many parts of the world. Years back, white skin was considered a symbol of superiority, and many people, especially women, went through constant backlash due to the tan or darker shade of their skin. Realistically thinking, this has absolutely nothing to do with superiority or inferiority, it was just a way to promote and carry racial discrimination amongst the people of those times. However, in most South Asian countries, till this day, darker skin-tone is considered impure and unattractive to the extent where girls are often told: “no one will marry you with this skin” and scrubbing off their tan is considered to be a perfectly normal and common practice in beauty parlors and homes. Many girls, from a very young age, are taught remedies that would make their skin lighter despite contemplating the consequences of those habits and actions on their confidence and self-image. Maybe it is the lack of common-sense, or perhaps it’s just the inability to forgo stereotypes that have been taught and passed down for generations. Who’s going to tell them it’s just melanin?
Keeping The Skin Healthy
Instead of focusing on what the color of their skin is, people should start thinking about how to keep their skin healthy and make sure it’s getting all the nutritional values that are necessary. Everyone wants a radiant glow, but not a lot of people know how to achieve it. This is why, if you don’t want to go to a dermatologist, there are countless online websites and blogs that help in guiding people to perform several remedies and hacks that are good for achieving the flawless look they desire, while also providing information about the products that would or wouldn’t suit the type of skin one has depending on how oily or dry it is. There are many products in the market that are made for specific skin-types, it is always better to take a professional opinion before using too many products at once, or a product that might be too strong for the skin.
However, the two basic things that should be included in every person’s skin routine are moisturizing and cleansing. These two help in making the skin create a protective barrier that prevents it from unnecessary harm. The skin is the largest organ in the body, it guards your body in various ways by providing a barrier that protects it from being invaded by harmful bacteria and other likely environmental conditions that might be harmful to the person. A decent skincare routine has been proven to prevent early signs of aging and wrinkles in many cases. Hence, it is important to make sure that a person is paying enough heed to their skin as possible.
