RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THIS WEEK'S DOWNLOADS
LL Cool J, "Year of the Hip-Hop"
Instant classic! No, seriously. See, this track is from 1994. "The Golden Era of Hip-Hop." It never surfaced before now because the DAT (That's Digital Audio Tape for you newjacks.) was lost. The story goes; it was found behind a radiator. 17 years later! How a DAT survives 17 years of heat from a radiator beats us but, truth or fluff, we'll take it. Oh, and since we're speaking of defunct audio formats vinyl junkies will be pleased to know that this recording will be pressed a mere 500 times for collectors. More rare still are 150 prints of that 500 which will be pressed on orange vinyl and numbered with a gold foil stamp. Give it up for Uncle L and this long lost track. Official Hip-Hop. Click the link below the audio and cross your fingers if you want to buy a copy.

iLLmind & Tek of Smif-N-Wessun, "Da Game"
Lawd haf Marcy! Being Black Nerds and all, the idea of iLLmind excites us. Beats by iLLmind excite us even more. This is exemplary Boom Bap for the uninitiated. If you have no idea who either of these individuals are … slap yo'self in the fo'head right quick. Thank you. This collaborative effort was born of an instrumental titled "Ahead of Da Game." The track was featured on iLLmind's solo project titled 'Behind the Curtain' which released in May. Tek took the ally-oop and slam dunked it. 2 points.
