I never thought that I would love a foreigner this time around. During my first time in Mexico, I made a few Mexican friends that I love now and probably forever. After living there for 16 months, I moved back to the U.S. due to some concerns about my severe hypothyroidism.
I was very sick, but still motivated to live there again — possibly for the rest of my life. A year and a half later, I discovered a formula that has gradually pushed my severe hypothyroidism closer to remission. After seeing improvements from quarterly lab test results, I knew that I was ready to be the expat entrepreneur again. It was time to end the chapter of my life in Western Colorado and return to Mexico.
So, upon preparing for my final weeks in the U.S., I started the visa process to become an official Mexican resident. After a week of document preparation, I submitted my documents and was granted a passport entry stamp to complete the process in Mexico. I was excited and looking forward to start a new chapter of my life.
In June 2015, I took a backpack and two suitcases to ride from Austin, Texas to San Miguel De Allende. After arriving to San Miguel De Allende, I promised myself that I would never do that again. I thought it would be a fun and scenic bus ride, but I realized that the long trip drained my patience. This time, I decided to drive from Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Santiago De Queretaro.
I drove my car because I wanted to bring some things that would make life there more comfortable. Although, I never knew that I would be leaving Western Colorado to evolve an intimate relationship. My Latina girlfriend wasn’t moving with me to Mexico. She was already there…
