If you haven’t read part 1 of the series, you should start there.
On November 2016, I left England and returned to Mexico. I enjoyed my three months in Spain and England. Moreover, I was happy to check off on my to-do list: “Lived in at least one European country.”
This time, it was time to return to Mexico to live in a different city. That city was Santiago De Queretaro, an hour away from San Miguel De Allende. It’s one of the fastest growing cities in Mexico and abundant with co-working offices, American brands, public transit, and business opportunities.
For Mexico, Queretaro is a modern city with lots of potential for growth and innovation. So, I thought that it would be a good city to find a modern Latina girlfriend. I wanted to experience Mexico with someone special rather than experiencing it alone again.
I have lived in big cities for most of my adult life and wanted to live in towns to compare the lifestyles. In the United States, I didn’t like Schuylkill Haven (PA) or Franklinville (NJ). Both towns were too rural for me. I lived in Saint Clair (PA) and Wolfeboro (NH), which was slightly better than Schuylkill Haven and Franklinville. Unfortunately, neither of those towns gave me hope of a promising townie lifestyle.
After living in those towns, I still remained optimistic about finding an ideal townie lifestyle. So, I decided to experience it in Mexico with Tequisquiapan. I didn’t have a lot of high expectations. I just embraced the experience with an open mind.
This Mexican townie lifestyle was similar to an American retro lifestyle with the inclusion of smartphones, HDTVs, and laptop computers. My Spanish fluency wasn’t awful. The town had a British owned international school and two English language schools. So, I was hopeful that some patience and effort would bring me a Latina girlfriend.
