Wired calls today "the nerdiest holiday ever" (which immediately Star Wars fans could dispute), but if you've been languishing since Pi Day (called another thing by some), it's time to get technical!
On June 8, more than a hundred organizations, including Google, Akamai, and Facebook, will jettison the aging Internet Protocol 4 and take the more robust IPv6 standard out for a one-day test-drive. (IPv5 never caught on.) It’s the most exciting thing to happen to servers since Y2K!
So today, reboot yourself and thank smart phones and microwaves for eating up all the IPv4 numbers in the first place!
