It's a new day, y'all. Apple Computer, normally more secure than most government institutions and more cautiously guarded than George Soros' PIN number, just dropped a bomb on the tech world by changing their whole tactic and letting people know what they're gonna announce ahead of time!
Apple today said Steve Jobs will deliver the opening keynote at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 6. On the docket: the next-generation versions of Apple's software platforms, namely iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion, and the until-now mysterious cloud service, officially called iCloud.
Apple revealed its plans in a press release issued this morning. The advance notice is somewhat out of character for the company, which typically prefers to keep the specifics of its announcements under lock and key until the event itself. It's likely Apple saw the speculation around the next version of the iPhone, which has traditionally been unveiled this time of year for a summer release, and decided to get ahead of those expectations lest anticipation for "iPhone 5" overshadow the software and services it wants to highlight.
After all that tracking data hoo hah, who wouldn't trust Apple with all their music, right?
Right?
