Mental illness does not discriminate on the basis of gender, but The Good Men Project wants to explore how men specifically are affected by it.
Are you a man with an up-close experience of mental illness, or close to one whose story you want to share? If you think men are diagnosed or treated differently when it comes to mental illness, how would you describe that difference? If you’re a mental health professional, do you perceive a difference in how men cope or are dealt with? Is the stigma of a mental illness diagnosis different for men, either better or worse than for a woman with the same diagnosis?
We are accepting submissions that address these or any other angles about mental illness that would be of particular interest to men or understanding men.
Please direct questions or submissions to Marcus Williams (marcus@goodmenproject.com) or Joanna Schroeder ([email protected]), by March 12.
