Chris Illuminati chronicled his first year of being a dad one hysterical Post-It note at a time
—
Chris Illuminati, sometimes known as the “Post-It Dad”, has mastered the art of parenting haiku. In 2010, he quit his job to become a stay-at-home dad and started his popular blog “Message with a Bottle,” a collection of his observations about being a new father, often told through simple yet profound messages scrawled on sticky-notes. As he states on his site, “As a reminder of everything going on with my writing, I leave Post-It Notes around my office as reminders. I decided to incorporate those same organizational principles while watching my son.” His ridiculously clever parenting Post-Its have become an internet hit, attracting attention all over the web, mostly recently from a popular Huffington Post piece.
The HuffPo article collected 15 of Chris’ best, most recent Post-Its, but that barely cracks the surface of Illuminati’s sticky-note wisdom. There are 47 pages of hilarious parenting Post-Its on “Message with a Bottle,” and, trust us, if you ever want a really pleasant way to spend a few hours, just click through his Post-It pages and laugh yourself silly.
So, as a service for any newly minted fans of the Post-It Dad, here are 20 of our favorite parenting Post-Its from Chris Illuminati’s first year of being a dad. You can find more fan favorites from his son’s first year here and even more from his son’s second year here. Enjoy.

This was the very first Post-It Chris ever posted to his blog—on May 6, 2010—two weeks before he quit his job to stay home with his son full-time.

Leave out the adoption joke and it’s very, very funny and real. Enjoy that baby while he’s a baby. Goes fast and I promise you’ll forget how exhausted you were.
