If you’re waiting for that elusive “inspiration” to hit you over the head, you might be waiting forever.
The muse?
It’s already inside you, but you’ve got to show up to let it come through.
Far too often, we use every reason under the sun to avoid taking that next step, doing the hard work, or making that uncomfortable leap forward.
And one of my favorites that people reach for is, “I’m just not in alignment right now.”
Look, I get it. Alignment matters — it’s where the magic really happens. But here’s the deal: waiting for alignment can be just as much of an avoidance tactic as anything else.
Think about it: you know what you want, maybe it’s a fulfilling career, a passionate relationship, financial freedom, or an inner peace you haven’t felt in ages.
These aren’t small aspirations; they’re big, bold desires. But if we’re waiting for that perfect inner alignment to get started, that moment when we feel entirely “ready,” we might be setting ourselves up for perpetual stalling. Because let’s be honest, are you really going to “feel ready” to face your shadows?
Or do you just need to start walking that path anyway?
When we drop consistency and wait for the perfect time, we start slipping. Suddenly, days turn into weeks, and we’re still stuck in the same place.
And here’s something that might sting a bit: we tend to lean on reasons rather than results.
When we’re “not in alignment,” it’s easier to come up with all the reasons why something isn’t the right move now rather than go after the results we want.
But here’s the kicker — alignment often comes from doing THE THING. It’s not something you find while sitting on the sidelines. That alignment you’re craving?
It’s on the other side of showing up, pushing through, and moving into action. You can’t expect to be aligned with anything if you’re not moving.
As a manifestation mentor, I focus a lot on vibration, energy, and quantum frequency. Trauma, past wounds, and all those old stories we carry can absolutely impact our frequency, and if we want to manifest anything in this life, that frequency needs to shift up a few notches.
Trauma holds a vibration, and often, it drags us down if we let it.
But sitting with trauma and waiting to feel aligned to address it?
That’s not how healing happens, and it’s not how you change your life.
Alignment isn’t passive — it’s an active, ongoing process.
You have to get out of what’s comfortable, what feels safe, what you’ve labeled as “normal,” and move toward what’s going to make a difference.
Now, let’s talk about comfort zones.
Most of us will do nearly anything to avoid stepping out of them. We become creatures of habit, and our bodies, minds, and nervous systems cling to the familiar — even if that familiar is keeping us small, unhappy, or disconnected.
Sometimes, the thing we’re avoiding is the very thing that will bring us freedom. When we find ourselves putting things off or making excuses, it’s time to get curious.
What are we afraid of?
Is it failure, success, rejection, or maybe the challenge of seeing ourselves in a new light?
Whatever it is, identifying that fear is a huge step forward. Avoiding something doesn’t remove the fear; it just puts off the growth.
Les Brown has a great quote: “Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” This hits home because it’s a reminder that we’re often more aligned with our fears than our dreams.
We’re feeding the excuses rather than the possibilities.
What would happen if, instead of leaning into reasons, you started leaning into results? What if you took one small action every day toward what you want, even if you didn’t feel like it? Chances are, that small act of courage would eventually lead to a massive shift in both energy and perspective.
It’s also time to address the issue of trauma.
Trauma impacts us on every level — mind, body, and soul. But trauma, as real and challenging as it is, isn’t a get-out-of-action card.
When trauma becomes an excuse not to move forward, it keeps us stuck. Yes, trauma is valid, but so is your power to transcend it. In fact, part of healing from trauma is breaking through that frequency and shifting to a new level of awareness. That doesn’t happen by waiting to “feel” healed or waiting to feel aligned enough to heal. It happens by doing the work — getting into the discomfort and finding out that you’re more resilient than you ever imagined.
Brené Brown has this to say: “You can choose courage, or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both.”
If you’re serious about manifesting a life that feels aligned, abundant, and rich in all the ways you’re dreaming of, courage is required. It’s time to let go of comfortable excuses. Courage doesn’t mean fear disappears; it means you take the step even with fear.
And if courage brings discomfort? Well, that’s where the real transformation starts.
So, let’s bring it back to that muse that everyone waits on.
You don’t sit around hoping it’ll knock on your door.
You go out and engage with life, and that’s how inspiration finds you.
Every time you take a step toward what you want — every time you do the hard, gritty work that nobody wants to talk about — you’re bringing yourself into alignment. Waiting for some divine spark before acting is just a delay tactic, one that’ll keep you stuck and out of sync with the life you want to create.
Real alignment happens in the doing, not the dreaming.
And Tony Robbins? He said, “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” It’s as straightforward as it sounds. If you want different results, then it’s time to do something different.
The life you want isn’t hiding somewhere, waiting for the right cosmic alignment; it’s waiting for you to take that first, imperfect step. Inconsistency, making excuses, and letting “alignment” be the reason you’re stuck won’t get you there. Results happen when you push, when you keep showing up, and when you let action become the driver.
Now, here’s a thought that might not sit well with everyone: You may be comfortable in your discomfort.
Familiar pain can feel safer than the unknown.
But that comfort zone? It’s where dreams go to die.
The same habits that are comfortable are the ones keeping you stuck. The same routines that feel “normal” are the ones that are preventing you from thriving. And every time you choose a reason, you’re turning your back on the result you’re after.
Here’s a challenge: the next time you feel unmotivated or “unaligned,” instead of giving yourself permission to step back, push yourself to step in.
Just try it.
Sit down, write that page, make that call, hit the gym, do that meditation.
Whatever it is, take action instead of making an excuse. You’ll be surprised how quickly alignment finds you when you’re already moving in the right direction.
The journey toward your goals isn’t going to come gift-wrapped in a box marked “inspiration.” It’s going to come wrapped in the nitty-gritty work that you might not always want to do.
But that’s where the growth is.
That’s where the results are.
And that’s where alignment lives — not in waiting, but in action.
So let go of the reasons, and choose the results.
Let the muse find you on the way.
