Unknown but to You

So many people wish to be understood

To have someone they look up to finally See them

We wait for someone to recognize us as the Good we know ourselves to be

But our wishes rarely come true

Especially when we are wishing hardest

One of those paradoxes

Where it never finds you until you let it go

No matter how well you communicate yourself

Few people will ever See you

Your words, your actions, your purpose

Are frequently little more than a shadow

To all that others project onto you

As they long for the same

And despair at constant unfulfilled hopes

The unfulfilled hopes begin to defy reality

As the soul constantly sees the past repeating in the present

No matter how dramatically different the present may be

They can’t see the moment

They can’t see themselves

They can’t hear their own thoughts

Much less have room for yours

Identity is not a thing

They agonize in so much pain

And so that leaves you

You are the best expert on yourself

It is up to you to choose self worth

And to have compassion

Both on yourself and others

You are valuable even if everyone is too distracted to be able to care

Give yourself your own attention and let them journey to their where

Your path is yours

And all the validation that others could ever give you

Can never help you prosper until you decide it is true

The only vote is you

Make peace with your power

And use it create all the more peace.
