Fear and doubt create shadows in our life. How do we become our own torches of freedom?

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” ~ Edith Wharton
A torch is a tool that lights the way, illuminates your view, and provides a beacon of safety.
Just as true prosperity comes from the inside out, your light and spirit must come from the inside.

In my world, being in light is where you can see everything clearly, colors are vivid, and there is a feeling of openness and expansion. But the dark places and shadows are where fear and doubt creep in.
Shadows trip us up, hold us back, because they block our view. Blinded, we are not free to pursue our dreams.
I remember writing in my journal that I was choosing a new path and I dreaded the stumbling it would take (figuratively) to get to the other side of the room where the light switch was. Silly me – the light was in me all the time.
Just as true prosperity comes from the inside out, your light and spirit must come from the inside. Only then can you find your way.
So I will picture myself as the Lady Liberty, holding my torch up for all who need it (including myself). As the last line of the inscription on her pedestal proudly declares:
I lift my light beside the golden door!
