‘Gifted’ Took a good message and made it into a great movie
I am a fan of Chris Evans. I know him best for playing Captain America. One of the only reason I saw Gifted was because he was in it. It was a movie that surprised me in a lot of ways. I was able to see it early and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Gifted here:
Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) – in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the 7-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother, Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan), whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary.
I really liked Gifted. It was nothing I expected it to be. It has drama, painful times and some wonderful heart warming moments. The film also throws in a few twists that really elevate it to a higher level. This is not a perfect film, but it is definitely better than many of the other dramas I have seen lately. Gifted gets 8.5/10. It took a difficult to tell story and told it the correct way. The message is a simple one and something that people of all ages need to hear. The score is really good with so many moments that become better with the right music behind it. The cast work great together and bring what is needed to their roles to tell this amazing tale.
