‘Future World’ wants to tell a good story but misses the mark
I have seen a number of post-apocalyptic films in my day. Some of them are really good, while others turn out just okay. A few can be downright awful if not done right. When I heard of Future World it sounded like it had potential to be good. I was able to get a review copy and here is what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for Future World here:
In a post-apocalyptic world, where water and gasoline have long since dried-up, a prince from the oasis (one of the last known safe-havens) must venture out to find medicine for the ailing queen (Liu), but along the way he gets mixed up with the warlord (Franco) and his robot Ash (Waterhouse), which leads to a daring journey through the desolate wastelands.
I had a number of issues while watching Future World. The film starts off good, but can’t keep that momentum going. The characters are one dimensional, and the main character takes a back seat through most of this story. The plot also has lots of choppy and slow moments. This movie tends to drag on pretty often too. With all the big name stars in here I was hoping it would at least be alright, but none of them could do much to save this mess. Some people may enjoy this film, but most should just avoid it altogether.
Future World comes out on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital tomorrow.
