Penelope Barnes Thompson, a transplanted New Yorker, lives in Los Angeles, California, where she is a recently retired clinical psychologist and professor of psychology. She is now in another reincarnation as a Buddhist hospital and jail chaplain and chaplain supervisor. She also offers short-term pastoral counseling for persons in spiritual crisis. Her first published collection of poems is titled, Deconstructing the Nest and Other Poems. Her poetry was featured on the Writer's Almanac with Garrison Keillor. Some of her poems have been published in Daybreak Poetry, Solo, Rivertalk, California Quarterly, along with other publications.
