It has been considered a “rite of passage” for youths. For others, dating is a form of recreation, with no commitment intended in the future. However, we decided to give the subject some rare dignity. If you are an adult male with intentions to eventually marry a woman, this article is for you.
You have a date. But it’s not just any date. It’s your first. You might be a bit nervous, and that’s natural. You also may be hoping that she could be “the one” for you. But let’s take it one step at a time.
So how can you prepare for a first date? Here are some tips to help make it enjoyable, for both of you.
How About Dinner?
Find out what she likes to eat – does she have expensive taste? You might get away with asking her what restaurant she’d like to dine at. However, she might not mind leaving the choice to you – she could be observing to see if you have some imagination. So ask her instead what she likes to eat when she goes out, and then suggest a place.
Formal or Casual?
Find out if she would like to go formal or casual. Formal dining might give you a chance to make a nice first impression. But casual dining might make you both more comfortable on the first date.
Are You Ready?
When the big date arrives, make sure your dress and grooming are in order. Don’t forget your wallet, not just for the money, but for your ID and credit or debit card if you’re using them.
In the Car
Pick her up on time. If she is late in coming out, patiently wait. Don’t make a fuss to her about it. She is likely to apologize anyway, so don’t sweat it. Besides, there are plenty of better things you could talk about.
Give her a sincere compliment. If you’re impressed with how she’s dressed, or how her hair looks, tell her.
At the Restaurant
When you get to the restaurant, allow her to enter first. It’s kind of old-fashioned to hold her chair for her, but if she seems receptive to it, why not?
Be resolved to keep the event comfortable. If you start talking about marriage at this point, she might feel rushed, and it could turn her off from future dates.
Keep your mind on getting to know her as a person. The conversation should be light and enjoyable as if you were talking to a friend. In fact, get to know her as a friend first.
When ordering, allow her to order first. It’s a small gesture of chivalry, and many women love it.
From there, it’s all about the conversation. The bottom line is that you want her to enjoy the experience as much as you.
In Closing
So a first date can go smoothly and it can be enjoyed by you and your date. We hope you will benefit from the tips in this article.
