Rallies and marches in support of stricter gun control are frequent occurrences, but some citizens say they are ready for more drastic measures. Over the weekend, former Education Secretary Arne Duncan gave his stamp of approval to a onetime colleague’s suggestion that parents pull their kids out of schools until Congress passes stricter gun laws. “What if no children went to school until gun laws changed to keep them safe?” Duncan asked his Twitter followers. Duncan went on to say that his own family would be on board if more people could commit, and prominent education leaders like Teach for America founder Wendy Kopp voiced their own support. A movement may have been born, and social media users are strongly supportive. The school boycott idea gets 76 percent positive opinions online. –Hugo Guzman
