And now, a mastery lesson in communications.
After the last few days, I wondered what the Trump organization would say to deflect from this historic negative attention.
Email subject line this morning is “witch hunt”
(Even the missing capitalization is like a secret whisper that only people in the club get)
—
“Let me be clear. Since Day One, this witch hunt has never been about me.
Their target is you.
The swamp doesn’t want you to take your country back, and they will fight to the bitter end to stop you.”
—
Wow. In three simple lines he says *don’t look at me, look at the bad guys, they are out to get you… you’re not safe.*
I get the heebie-jeebies when I see lines like this because they take a special kind of mind to create and because they *work.*
The concept of a witch hunt denies credibility to the mob – in this case, the FBI and Mueller’s investigation.
The second line is genius manipulation. “Their target is you.” It’s so simple and effective because it’s a reptilian fear that overrules the prefrontal cortex… *you are not safe.*
Which makes a typical person immediately respond with fight or flight (or freeze)… ascribing threat upon the dangerous *other* and undermining anyone who might defect to the other team.
And this is where it gets you: “…doesn’t want you to take your country back.” If you jump ship now, you’re a traitor, so get in your trench and prepare for a fight to the death (which is the next line).
There’s no way out of this logic loop that doesn’t require intense, uncomfortable vulnerability. And the typical human mind will choose cognitive dissonance because it’s simply safer.
The mind that wrote this understands people, their fears, and how to manipulate them with a few simple words.
Brilliant. Evil… and Brilliant.

“Here’s the thing about The Good Men Project. We are trying to create big, sweeping, societal changes—–overturn stereotypes, eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, be a positive force for good for things like education reform and the environment. And we’re also giving individuals the tools they need to make individual change—-with their own relationships, with the way they parent, with their ability to be more conscious, more mindful, and more insightful. For some people, that could get overwhelming. But for those of us here at The Good Men Project, it is not overwhelming. It is simply something we do—–every day. We do it with teamwork, with compassion, with an understanding of systems and how they work, and with shared insights from a diversity of viewpoints.” —– Lisa Hickey, Publisher of The Good Men Project and CEO of Good Men Media Inc.
