Compassion, according to Merriam-webster.com, is “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.”
When you are compassionate, you are aware of the suffering of another person and you sincerely wish to relieve the person of it, which is known as kindness.
This shows that Compassion is a prerequisite for kindness. According to Mark Twain, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
I, therefore, see Compassion as an important virtue which we all need to have in order to positively affect the lives of those around us.
