Whit Honea shows his sons how to save a life—with facial hair.

We are halfway through the magical month of Movember, and for the sake of every man you have ever met, let’s hope your hand is halfway to hitting “make a donation” on the participating page of your choice.
And thank you for supporting the cause.
Movember isn’t just about mustaches, awesome as they may be, but also to raise money and awareness for men’s issues, namely prostate and testicular cancers, respectively. Also, mental health.
Past Movembers have raised enough money that the medical community is absolutely giddy about their progress and the chance for a cure(s). But in the meantime there are good men suffering and dying all around us: sons, fathers, husbands, cousins, friends, etc., and if a thick stretch of whiskers can spare them that experience then put the razor down and get used to the general public screaming whenever you walk down the street. It happens.
My boys, ages 10 and 7, have joined me this year in growing mustaches for Movember. Puberty is going to have the last laugh in this one, and surely that’s worth a buck.
Thank you.

Your passion is inspiring! The fact that you do this with your sons and they are equally inspired is priceless! One question, Where’s the support ? Come’on Lisa, Johanna and all you others who proudly proclaim yourselves ‘Editors” of the GMP , let’s ‘Bang the Drums’ for this cause!
We are banging the drum bobbt! Loudly! This is one of many posts we’ve run on Movember. In fact—we’ve run an entire section–one post a day for the whole month of Movember. It’s “Mustache of the Day”, and a fun way to keep the involvement up, awareness up, and people engaged.
We’re with you bobbt. We’re on your side. Thanks for your enthusiasm! (And that would be Editors without quotes around it, btw.)
Lisa, thanks for the response. The last time I responded to Whit, I was the only one! It’s just that if you publish anything about ‘Gender and Sexuality’ and you get 200 responses(at least half of them from women) So, I’m calling all of you ‘Regulars’ out! You know who you are! You justify yourselves by claiming you care about men, well it’s time to ‘step up’! Don’t let this passionate man ‘Die on the Vine’. Support the cause !
