Aside from having clear personal and professional goals, there are many ways for us to relax and re-energize, wherever we find ourselves in life.
- Time alone: High-stress situations will drain a man of his testosterone levels, whether he expresses this state outward or not. One of the ways that we gather up our man-power (literally) is by having alone time, time during which we can be by ourselves and process the stressors in our lives and breathe deeply of sweet, sweet air. Relaxation helps lower levels of excess cortisol, a hormone that we need in normal amounts for alertness.
- Hand over that which we can’t control to God/higher power: As men, it’s our natural instinct to always want to steer situations our way and unfortunately, no matter how hard we may try in some cases, situations just may just go off-rail, and they do. Learning to release our attempted mental hold on a situation will free up a lot of precious energy, which could be channelled towards situations we can directly influence. If you can’t make a phone call and make it change, then leave it to God.
- Become aware of all of your resources and be grateful for them: Life being the way it is, sometimes we develop spiritual tunnel vision, which prevents us from relaxing and seeing life as it is: naturally abundant. Make a list of every single resource to which you have access, whether material or character traits. You’ll start to breathe easy once you can actually see that you have so many tiny wellsprings from which you can draw and achieve the goals you desire.
