Tommy Mack is a highly regarded and sought after yoga teacher (ERYT-200) in the metro Detroit area with lineage extending from Jonny Kest to David Williams and Patthabi Jois.
Upon retiring as a Golden Glove Boxer, Tommy spent over 10 years working with clients in the fitness industry, before starting his yoga teaching career at Center for Yoga in 2010. Tommy quickly developed a strong following of students of all ages, both new to yoga and those with a regular practice, who were immediately drawn to his uplifting style of teaching, transformative vinyasa flow sequences and his approachable personality. To each class, Tommy brings an abundance of energy, a balance of intensity and compassion, and a much-needed sense of humor that define his signature teaching style. He can always be heard encouraging students in class to “keep breathing, keep feeling” as he helps students extend beyond their limitations to be inspired, find balance, and achieve a greater sense of health and well being. His unparalleled interest and natural ability to effortlessly connect with students allow him the additional opportunity to work individually with students, further deepening their connection to yoga and the power of breathing. His training as a professional athlete sets him apart from other yoga teachers as he benefits from an innate understanding of the physicality of the mind-body connection allowing him to safely make the necessary adjustments to help students customize postures to best fit their limitations. Tommy’s genuine love of yoga and sharing the benefits of a yoga practice is evident from the first class you take with him.
Tommy teaches Hot Vinyasa and Slowburn classes weekly at Center for Yoga in Birmingham, Michigan. He is always happy to share yoga through workshops, special events, private sessions, and yoga retreats.
