Christmas is still magical and mystically amazing when we think of grace, love, mercy, and sacrifice. Despite the bad, we have the good.
First, the not so good:
My husband tested positive and has been quarantining downstairs while I am upstairs with my girls who tested negative.
I test on Monday. My heart goes out to all the families who have lost loved ones due to the virus.
My brain tried to go there a few times this past week, however, after a few tears, I jumped back into life with caution.
Next the good:
Stockings full, Christmas is waiting for us to celebrate as soon as we are all awake.
One daughter begins her new celebrations with her boyfriend’s family, my youngest daughter and I started a new traditions: Harry Potter 1–4 on Christmas Eve and the other four on Christmas Day. I’m making lasagna as a new tradition.
…
The year has been tough.
We’ve heard the news stories, the trauma, the pain, the loss, and sometimes it feels overwhelming. We have not lost hope, even if we feel down and discouraged sometimes.
Writing my thoughts here, not so much as a point creator for my work, but more for the concept of caring and support to others this holiday who found themselves mourning, quarantined, or depressed.
Remember the good.
Christmas doesn’t have to be a scary or sad time, and as we recognize the good we have experienced, the ones we lost will be honored by the encouragement to seek the positive despite the terrible.
- We can look outside at Christmas lights and feel thankful for electricity.
- We can see the snow, the tiny flakes beginning to fal, and remember our thankful, warm hearts this cold day.
- We can remember days past when we celebrated with loved ones all around, and cherish the memories.
- We can count the blessings of today: one client shared, “I am thankful for breath. To breathe when so many have lost the chance to breathe right now. As I saw a couple body bags pass in the halls at work, I was remembering how grateful I am to be home with my children and breathe.”
Simple blessings make Christmas what it was meant to be: Remembering the reason for the Season, the gifts of the Magi and the magical power of love and sacrifice, we can be sure our faith is nurtured.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to write and share my thoughts. Blessings to you and yours this holiday season. Stay safe.
