The other morning I was trail running with one of my clients. It was the moment in the photo above. The sun was coming up and it looked like a fire in the sky. One of the most beautiful mornings all year long. I know, we’re only in January, but these Southern California winter sunrises are awe-inspiring.
I asked my client if he was feeling stronger since we’ve been working together. Now, I know he’s getting stronger because I’ve been tracking his progress. He’s breathing easier, moving faster, and much more comfortable with all the training sessions we’ve done. I knew the answer, but I wanted to hear it from him. “Definitely,” he replied. “When I touch my touch my calves, I think, wow, that’s muscle that wasn’t there before!”
We’ve been working together for a little over 3 months and he’s a completely different person than when he started. The only credit I can take is making sure he shows up and does what he’s supposed to do. It’s pretty amazing to watch the power of consistent workouts. This consistency works to improve us with just about anything we do. It’s the power of creating a habit in your life.
Here are 3 ways to find consistency in your well-being:
Schedule It
That’s right, put the appointments in your calendar. Whether you hire a coach like me, follow a free training program online, or do it all yourself, when it’s in your calendar, you’ll be more likely to follow through.
Review Your Progress
I find this is another way to that helps keep me on track. Often times I’ll make a commitment, then get too busy to follow through. If you look at your calendar, follow your commitments, then look at what you did at the end of the day, you’ll know what you did and more importantly, what you left out. Then make the next day better. Make sure you put those things in your must do plan. Whether it’s working out, meditating, eating better, going to sleep earlier, it doesn’t matter. Make sure you review your progress.
Course Correct
After your review is done, you’ll have to make some changes, or not, but most likely you will and that’s normal. Maybe it’s time to take away some of your over committed appointments. Possibly shorten the meditation, watch less television, or wake up earlier. Whatever it is that you need to do is really up to you. Refining this process is the key to it’s success.
Remember that everyday happens only one time. January 31, 2018 will never happen again, thus we must live it to the fullest. We must be present and aware of our lives and our surroundings. We must share the gifts of this beautiful life to those who’ve yet to see the reality or are stuck in negativity. Life is too short to live unfulfilled. Find what makes you tick, what drives you, do what you love to do and hang with people who make you feel alive. Of course, if you need some guidance, send me a message @teddymcdonald. I’m somewhere around the world.
