Life has its own way of surprising you with its ups and downs. Things may even go worse if such downfalls come with much more intensity. One such downfalls is a breakup. Depression, being its worst implication.
Breaking up with the one you love or getting out of a toxic relationship can turn your world upside down and make you feel completely lost.
But as they say, where there is a will, there is a way.
Embracing the Difference
First of all, it is important to understand that there are some striking differences being sad and being depressed. Both arise out of some serious emotional damage but they differ in their intensities. Breakups, no matter what the duration or intensity of the relationship has been, flips your world upside down. You break down, you feel sad, you cry, you fall and things get completely crumbled up. But these are just some symptoms of being sad, not depressed. Depression is a much intense situation where these symptoms have prolonging effects and can even make you feel suicidal if not detected and treated on time. So, firstly it’s important to know whether you are just sad or it is actually depression!
Professional Assistance
Next thing that is crucial here is acceptance and treatment of whatever the situation is. While going through all those emotional ups and downs, many of us fall in serious depression and even end up our lives!
What can probably work here is seeking professional help or a psychologist who can mentor you and help you out with the trauma. Someone who can assist you and treat you ideally. Timely treatment can be a life saviour here.
Staying Prone to threats of Self-medication
After a relationship gets over, a person feels a lot broken up and may even push himself towards suicidal thoughts. In many cases, it has been noticed that a person gets into self destructive behavior and even get addicted to drugs, just to feel fine. In such a situation, it is always advisable to look for some proper guidance.
Being Productive!
Break ups are a hard pill to swallow yet, disastrously distracting at the same time. It is a phase that not just gets you in a tough time but it also makes your everyday life more challenging than before. In such a situation, if you are slowly falling into depression, try to engage yourself in productive and creative activities as much as possible. Try to incline yourself into things that make you feel light. This can possibly distract you from all the disturbing thoughts and make you feel comfortable in yourself.
Stay Close with the loved ones!
o matter how much, but breakups make you feel alone and empty within. At the same time, you feel drained out of love which is obvious. With people who fall in depression after, things get extra sensitive for them. Even the slightest thing can affect them. In such a situation, it is always better to get in company with the people who love you back. Friends, family, or a close friend, it can be anyone you can speak your heart out to. Emotional and moral support can aid you a lot.
Mother Nature heals!
Now this may not sound much relevant to what our point of discussion is, but this can actually transform your condition. Staying in the lap of nature has proven to be a lot effective in reducing stress levels and calming you down. You can even take a trip to some beautiful location and just spend some ideal time with nature and appreciate the beauty around you.
Learning new skills!
Break ups are hard and results in low levels of spirit afterwards. Some people even get in to self destructive behaviour and just stop living their life just because of a bad breakup. In case of depression, things always remain extra sensitive. Learning new skills can bring about a lot of positivity in you. For the one who’s in depression and going through a tough time, learning new and creative things can make you feel lively all over feel again!
Exercising and Physical Activities
Needless to say, exercising and physical activities are capable of keeping you healthy, not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Participating and engaging yourself regularly in exercises makes you feel much more positive about your own self and bring about the confidence in you. Especially for the people who are going through depression, these activities can prove to be a lot helpful in raising your spirits and slowly bring you out of all the traumatic suffering you have been going through emotionally.
Meditation
Another most powerful weapon that can be used against all the negative things that depression brings in you. Meditation helps you in recovering and healing from all the sufferings that you have been going through, as it is capable of making you feel stable mentally and emotionally. The only condition is that these procedures should be followed with all the discipline and dedication which is only possible when it is being done under the guidance of an experienced mentor with proper instructions. Or else, it may be get even more messed up.
Trust the process!
Last but not the least, belief is what holds you alive all the time. Getting out of depressed condition is much more difficult than what one can even imagine. But if you are willing enough go rise up above all, you really need to understand and trust the whole healing process.
Yes, healing is a completely gradual process and never comes easy. All you really need to do is hold your belief up and see the miracles happening!
