Amid rising unemployment across the U.S., a new study reveals which states are most eager to find jobs.
The localization management platform, Centus, used Google Keyword Planner to analyze the search volume data for each U.S. state in the past 12 months for keywords related to finding a job. These keywords included ‘Glassdoor,’ ‘ZipRecruiter,’ ‘Indeed Jobs,’ and ‘Job near me.’ To avoid population bias, a monthly search volume per 100,000 people was then calculated.

Completing the list is South Carolina, with 3,318 monthly searches on average per 100,000 people, and a total of 178,283 searches every month over the last year. This includes 54,250 for ‘Indeed jobs,’ 55,375 for ‘Jobs hiring near me’ and 12,817 for ‘ZipRecruiter’.
Henry Simmons, CEO of Centus, commented on the findings:
“Investigating the search volume data of each U.S. state is fascinating as it reveals the populations that are most seeking a new opportunity. The high search volumes for job-hunting websites, such as Glassdoor, Indeed and ZipRecruiter, reveal their popularity for easily providing job listings in one place.
“With these states potentially being home to the most active job seekers, this study may offer a key insight into labor market dynamics where Georgia, Delaware and Florida may be experiencing economic challenges or an increase in job openings.”
