The holidays can send you into overwhelm with the hustle and bustle of it all. The traffic. The crowds of people. Family. Your significant other. Everything that you have to do to make sure that everyone around you is happy…can be so draining. I’m here to remind you: Don’t neglect yourself in the process. I know it’s easier said than done. The holidays aren’t all about the presents under the tree and endless to-do lists. This space between the end of the year and the new one can be sacred; if you allow it to be. Go ahead: breathe into the space of this is happening and not yet. Find time for yourself. If you can’t find the time, make it. You matter. You are valuable, the rest of the world can wait.
Counter your stress/overwhelm with the activities that make you come alive! What I mean by that is: maybe your jam is cuddling puppies or being curled up with a good book. Visualize your happy place before you reach it. Do the things that make your soul shine. Be a blessing to another soul.
Share your story. I find that’s one of the best ways to heal/grow when I’m going through, I find the courage to share. Fighting for joy can seem like you’re stuck in quicksand without a way out but there is hope. When you position yourself to make a difference in someone else’s life; yours can get a little brighter. When you let go and embrace the now; you can live in the present moment. When you take time for self-care, you restore your energy. You will rise above the overwhelm. Know your worth, fight for the things that give you joy in life. Pursue them without cease.
