The quest everyone seems to be on is to be happy. For some, the path seems to be effortless, most notably observed with children. It doesn’t take very much to make a child smile or laugh. However, when you become an adult, the quest seems a bit more daunting. Where the h*ll is happiness when you need it? I am often vexed by how individuals seem to be just bursting with it consistently. Therefore, happiness is like a well-watered garden. You have to tend to your thoughts. As a result of being mindful of your self-talk, you will become a catalyst for feeling better.
In addition, there is a direct link between what you think and how you feel. Monitoring your thought life is one of the ways that you can tend to the garden of happiness. I have found if you adjust your thoughts and expectations, the burden lifts. Secondly, you can ask yourself: what negative thoughts do I have circulating in my mind? Another way to create your happy is to do activities that produce endorphins i.e working out, sex, meditating, spending time in nature and so on. Happiness is just as much dependent on what you Do as what you think. Take inventory of how you feel about yourself.
A helpful tool you can use is: giving yourself a body scan; noticing where there’s tension, acknowledging emotions that may be held in your body. Improving your mind/body connection will provide a boost to your mood. The more connected with yourself you are, the better you can communicate with yourself and others about what makes you feel good. Life is too short to settle. You have this one life, make it count.
