Somebody told me dogs communicate via pictures in the mind. I started experimenting with giving Jon Snow directives using that technique. I Look at him and make a sound while picturing him doing what I want him to do. I noticed it worked about 99% of the time, which is a higher % than before I started doing this. Then I noticed the images went the other way around as well: when he looks at me, I’d see pictures in my mind. One night he looked at me and I saw an image of him pissing. It was late, I was tired, so I disregarded that. A few min later, he squatted down and pissed on the carpet. That’s the last time I disregard that. This is how we communicate now: we send each other hugs and kisses and requests for things via pictures in the mind. I pay attention to what I see in my mind, and I know when he wants to eat, to drink, to play, to walk, etc. I’m far more careful now when I’m frustrated with him. I’m mindful of the images I allow my mind to play out.

“Here’s the thing about The Good Men Project. We are trying to create big, sweeping, societal changes—–overturn stereotypes, eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, be a positive force for good for things like education reform and the environment. And we’re also giving individuals the tools they need to make individual change—-with their own relationships, with the way they parent, with their ability to be more conscious, more mindful, and more insightful. For some people, that could get overwhelming. But for those of us here at The Good Men Project, it is not overwhelming. It is simply something we do—–every day. We do it with teamwork, with compassion, with an understanding of systems and how they work, and with shared insights from a diversity of viewpoints.” —– Lisa Hickey, Publisher of The Good Men Project and CEO of Good Men Media Inc.
