Dad, how do I?

Hey kids! Today I’m going to show you how to change your cabin filter. It’s the air filter inside your car’s cabin, and this is different from the engine air filter I showed you last week. The cabin filter ensures the air inside is clean. But first, I have a dad joke for you: I went to buy some camouflage pants, but I couldn’t find any.
As I mentioned in some of my recent videos, I took my car into the shop because my check engine light was on. While I was there, they fixed that and gave me a list of other things that needed to be done on my car. This was one of them. For this service, I was quoted $57.99, but I was able to buy the filter on Amazon for $19.67. So, for less than 10 minutes of work, I saved $38.30!
Let’s get started. The cabin filter is usually located just behind the glove box. You need to squeeze the sides to release it, and there are a couple of stoppers on either side. Once you let it down, you’ll see the filter behind a black cover. In my case, it’s a black cover—just squeeze that and pull it out to expose the filter.
Now we’re going to pull the filter out. You can see it’s pretty dirty! Pay attention to which way it’s facing, as that matters. Notice how the stripes are oriented? I’m going to put it back in the same way it came out. You might have to jiggle it around a little bit to get it to fit perfectly, but just work it in and slide it into place.
It shouldn’t be too difficult. You can compare it to make sure it’s the same as the one you pulled out before putting it in. Now that it’s in, we’ll replace that plastic cover and snap it back into place. Then, we just reverse everything we did to remove it.
Now, pinch the sides of the glove box and put it back in place, passing those stoppers. Pinch that in, and you’re good to go!
I hope that was helpful for you. Before you attempt this, I suggest you check how to open your glove box and squeeze those sides together to pop it out. See if you can do it yourself before buying the air filter. As you saw, it was pretty easy. My van is similar to my car in this regard; you just squeeze those sides in. I’m not sure when they started putting cabin filters in cars, but pretty much all new cars have them now.
Just wanted to show you how it’s done. I hope that was helpful! Thanks for watching, and God bless you!
