In this video I show you how to cook macaroni and cheese.
I like to add and additional ingredient, but that’s up to you.
Some optional ingredients would be;
Bratwurst
Hot Dogs
Olives
Zucchini
Beans
Peas
Etc.

hey kids so today i’m gonna actually
show you how to how to make macaroni and
cheese
uh and i’m just using the box that you
can buy in the store fairly inexpensive
fairly easy and quick uh you know i’m
not telling you to eat this every night
for dinner but if you need to make a
quick meal this is a pretty good uh way
to do it doesn’t cost a whole lot and
there’s not
not a whole lot of ingredients i have
have added bratwurst to mine um and then
i’ve also added you know in the past
about it olives i’ve added
uh zucchini i’ve added beans i’ve added
peas uh so
you know it’s kind of endless it all
depends on your imagination what you
want to add to it or what you like maybe
you don’t like olives but i do
so anyway um i’m just going to walk you
through that so that uh that you have
some familiarity with it if you’ve never
done it before and if you’re a college
student maybe and you’re just trying to
make a quick meal i’ve made this ever
since i was in in college so
anyway before we do that i do have a dad
joke for you
so
actually you know i did have a dad joke
about macaroni but it was a little
cheesy ah so anyway let’s get started
all right i’m gonna start off by just
chopping up some these are bratwurst you
could use hot dogs it all depends on how
fancy you want to get but it’s a nice
way to turn mac and cheese into a little
bit of more of a fancier meal
so i kind of cut them at an angle
because it
i think it looks cooler
no special reason you could do it you
could do them straight on if you wanted
to
but we’re gonna go ahead and put these
in the pot that we’re gonna cook the
mac and cheese in okay
okay
this is the pot and we’re just going to
start off with this okay
all right so now i’m just going to bring
these over to the
go over to the stove and we’ll start
frying them
okay i’m just going to go ahead and turn
these on
i’m probably going to turn it on
about medium
okay
all right so and then i’m going to go
ahead and add a little olive oil because
i want to fry these
okay
okay and i’m just going to use boxed
macaroni and cheese because i’m trying
to keep this as simple as possible if
you’re a college student and you haven’t
really cooked before
or you just haven’t
you know if you need something quick um
you know there’s fancy mac and cheese
from scratch
but if you’ve never made mac and cheese
before i’m gonna show you um there’s
because there’s a little bit to it okay
uh because if you
add too much milk
it’s awful
you don’t want that right so if anything
be conservative on the milk okay so i’m
going to go ahead and get that ready
while we’re waiting for that to cook so
my
i just got a regular i’m not going to
advertise any brand necessarily but you
could use any kind of macro mac and
cheese you can use an off brand too okay
so just a box of mac and cheese
and it says to i need
fork or six cups of water
four tablespoons margarine or butter and
a quarter cup of milk
okay
so after i fry this
i just keep this all together you could
if you wanted to pull this out
uh
before you add the water and just set
this aside
um but i’m trying to keep it as
you know i’m using as few dishes as
possible because if you’re a college
student again you might not have a whole
lot of dishes so you can do it all in
one okay
so we’re going to get this
i want to put it get get these a little
bit brown if i can okay

keep checking on it you don’t want it to
stick okay

okay that looks pretty good now i’m
gonna go ahead and add water to this it
says to add six cups you can eyeball
this you don’t need exactly six cups
they’re just giving you a rough idea so
i’m gonna go out go over to the sink and
add some water
okay so i just added six cups of water
roughly might be a little bit light but
it’s pretty close right so because
you’re gonna cook the pasta the macaroni
noodles in this along with with these uh
these are actually look bratwurst is
what they call them
again you could use hot dogs or what
have you so we’re just going to wait for
that to come to a boil
okay now once that comes to a boil we’re
going to add our
our macaroni
okay which comes in this box
that i’m having a tough time opening
okay
and inside these boxes
you have a cheese packet okay so don’t
open this and just dump it in you need
to save this cheese packet that’s just
powdered cheese and then you got the
macaroni noodles down inside there okay
so we just want that to
this to boil
okay
and then once that boils we’ll add our
noodles
and one thing i think that helps the
noodles from sticking together is that
oil that i’ve added uh as well as the
oil from the from the bratwurst or the
hot dogs whatever you have so that will
probably help uh
keep the
the pasta from sticking together because
normally when you cook pasta you add a
little bit of oil to keep it from
sticking okay
and then once this
boils
we are actually gonna need a a colander
right
uh let’s see i gotta find my colander
too so

so this is a colander right something
with holes in it like that because we’re
gonna have to drain it so we’re gonna
put this in our sink
and we’re gonna wait for this to boil
and then we’re gonna dump this dump
these into here
okay once this
i’m getting ahead of myself just showing
you what a colander is this is called a
colander okay and there’s different
sizes of these
um i’ve had here i’ll show you
the colander i’ve had i think even from
my college days
it’s a little bit beat up but it’s still
around
[Laughter]
we don’t use it much anymore but um
it shows you they can last for a long
time
because i used to make macaroni and
cheese when i was in college because
it’s a fairly inexpensive uh decent meal
and doesn’t take a whole lot of time
okay so let’s get this thing i’m gonna
trap the heat just a little bit
okay it’s starting to boil
just starting to so we’re gonna go ahead
and put in our pasta
once you put in the pasta it’s going to
kind of slow down the boiling a little
bit
because that’s a little bit cool it
won’t slow it down for long i’m going to
go ahead and cut this heat down to about
six five you know five or six on my on
my stove
okay
and then i’m gonna go ahead and
put my timer on it’s supposed to be
cooked for around seven to eight minutes
so i’m gonna do seven minutes
okay and just let that boil for seven
minutes
okay so
i’ve been stirring this occasionally you
don’t have to stir it much
it kind of takes care of itself but you
just want to make sure it doesn’t stick
to the bottom okay
so we’ve done that and you can see
there’s uh 32 seconds left on my timer
so we’ll just let this continue to boil
until we get there and then we’re going
to bring it over to the sink and we’re
going to dump it in that
colander okay
we’re just about done
okay
okay i’m gonna go ahead and turn off the
heat for now and then i’m going to go
over and put this in the in the colander
okay we just take it here and we just
dump this straight in here
and just let it
leave it sit for now i’m just gonna
leave it sit the instructions on the box
says to put it back in the pan we’re not
gonna do that okay you’ll see why
okay uh
i’m gonna go ahead and turn on my
turn on my stove again and then i’m
gonna go ahead and throw in my you gotta
use a half a stick of butter okay
okay and then
uh a quarter cup of milk again be very
careful with the milk because if you put
in too much milk it’s soupy mac and
cheese and that’s awful
you don’t want that so
all right so i’m just going to let this
melt for a little bit you could even
chop that butter up a little bit so it
melts a little faster but i didn’t so
we’re just gonna go with it
we’re just gonna let that
melt
once that gets melted then we’re gonna
add our cheese sauce into here okay
so let’s just let that melt
okay so the butter is just about melted
all right
and
so i do this like this rather than add
those noodles back in because i can make
sure everything gets mixed good if i do
it this way i think this is a much
better way to do it rather than
add the
add the noodles back in okay so now we
just got our cheese packet we’re gonna
add that
okay
we can cut the heat down a little bit
too
probably down to like a
low i got it on like a two okay so now
see that so you can mix this cheese
sauce because otherwise you get cheese
chunks
cheese sauce chunks cheese chunks aren’t
so bad cheese sauce chunks aren’t so
good so i think you can mix it much
better this way
before you add the
the macaroni back in okay
so now
that looks pretty good
fairly well mixed
okay
now we can turn off the
heat and i’m going to put this over in
the sink and i’m going to dump that
other one back in here back to dump the
pasta back in
okay so now i’m just going to go ahead
and dump this back in i didn’t rinse
this or anything all i did was just let
that sit while i was making that sauce
okay so now
go ahead and dump this in
this this colander is just such a big
colander that’s why i’m doing this in my
sink you know since i have a metal sink
i can do that if you have a different
sink then
maybe you gotta check to see
whether that’s okay to do that but
that’s why i did that
i normally just keep this on the stove
and then i bring my colander over and
dump it in
okay see that see it’s mixing up nice
and good and i’m gonna add one last
little touch here for you
and bring it back over to the
to the stove top okay
okay so one last little thing here
a little touch um you could transfer
this to another bowl that has a lid
i’m trying to use as few bowls as
possible trying to use a few dishes so
you don’t clean up as much right we’re
just gonna go ahead and do that
get all the excess off
set that aside and then i’m gonna put a
little cheese on the top okay
when i lived with my brother and his
wife
uh karen used to do this and it kind of
ties the whole thing all together at the
end with the with that coating of cheese
on the top okay so then we’re just gonna
take this
put the lid on and let it sit for about
10 minutes so that cheese can melt so
all the
the stove is off it’s just sitting here
by itself taking the heat from inside
the pan
okay let’s take a look
nice look at that pretty gourmet
right
okay so i hope that was helpful for you

yeah fairly quick easy meal you can buy
that box usually for about a dollar in
the store um you can even get it cheaper
than that if you go
uh with a generic brand uh
and
you know most of them are decent you
kind of get what you pay for so um but
if you’re on the cheap you know you can
you can make a meal fairly cheap you
obviously don’t need to add the
hot dogs or the bratwurst um
but you can and then i’ve also added
olives
i’ve added
zucchini before so you can kind of dress
up something without spending a whole
lot of money you can dress up that
macaroni macaroni and cheese uh
yeah without without breaking the bank
so
