Transcript provided by YouTube and edited slightly with AI:
Welcome, kids! Today, I’ll show you how to make my version of chili. You can customize it to your taste, but I’ll walk you through the basics. But first, here’s a dad joke for you: What did the young chili say to his dad? “Dad, can we turn up the heat? I’m a little chilly.” 😄
Now, let’s go through the ingredients quickly. You’ll need olive oil for browning the meat, two pounds of lean hamburger, one large onion (adjust to your liking), fresh garlic, and garlic powder.
For simplicity, you can use chili seasoning packs instead of individual spices. But if you’re making it from scratch, here are the spices: six tablespoons of chili powder, four tablespoons of sugar, three tablespoons of cumin, one teaspoon of black pepper, one tablespoon of garlic powder, and one tablespoon of salt.
Next, the wet ingredients: two cans of diced tomatoes, one can of tomato paste (or tomato sauce), kidney beans (dark red or black beans), and beef broth.
Let’s start cooking! Heat some olive oil in a pot over medium heat, then add the hamburger and onions. Brown the meat for about ten minutes, until there’s no more pink.
Next, add the garlic, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste. Stir everything together, and then add the kidney beans and beef broth.
Here’s my secret ingredient: sweet chili sauce! It adds a bit of a kick, and you can adjust the amount to your preferred spiciness.
Now, let the chili simmer on low heat for a while to let the flavors blend together.
For serving, you can enjoy it with Frito Scoops, shredded cheese, sour cream, avocados, or any toppings you like!
And there you have it! A delicious pot of homemade chili. I hope you enjoyed this cooking adventure. Thanks for watching, and God bless you!
