Bananas are speaking out against the popular expression ‘That is bananas,’ concerned about the negative association.
“It’s crazy to think that our name has become synonymous for something crazy,” one banana angrily said, losing his ripeness about the issue. “I don’t understand how the expression came to be. And it’s bad for our image. Fruits don’t want that kind of reputation. We are delicious, healthy and versatile. We love being eaten.”
Meanwhile, peaches have been gloating about their positive image, often being likened to optimism and flair, when someone is called ‘a peach.’
“Don’t get me wrong. We feel bad for the bananas. But it’s their loss. People love us,” one peach confidently said. “Even when people aren’t eating us, they’re complimenting each other by calling each other ‘peaches.’ It’s quite the ego boost for us, you know.”
But, bananas aren’t pleased with the mistreatment and are calling it fruit discrimination.
“It’s really unfair,” another banana argued, with her peel twisting in frustration. People say ‘oh, you’re a peach!’ to someone they admire, but they go on to say ‘that’s bananas!’ to describe something they dislike…this whole thing is bananas. And yes, I’m using the expression to prove a point. It’s called fruit equality.”
Bananas are holding rallies by the bushel at selected Whole Foods locations and fruit stands, conveniently located right by where the peaches are sold.
