Nothing in life is more true, painful and laughable as karma.
So what is karma?
Karma is loosely defined as cause and effect determining the future outcomes or future experiences. So if you do good things(cause), you receive good things(effect). Conversely, do bad things(cause), you receive bad things(effect).
Karma can serve you a hot plate of fresh chocolate chip cookies one moment. And just as you bite in, you know it’s not chocolate chips but rather rabbit turds on the inside. It can leave you wondering what exactly you’ve done to deserve this hotplate of eww.
Whether you believe in Karma or not doesn’t matter. I think that most people in this world that feel like they are good people and wonder why bad things happen to them. And, the flip side of this coin is rarely considered. When something good happens to us, we don’t think all of our good deeds. Instead, we hold our head up high and know we got what we deserve.
Can you imagine if everyone believed in karma?
I’d genuinely like to believe in Karma. I want to think that the people who win the lottery, survive the dangerous operation or rise to the top are good deserving people. I’d also like to believe that the person who flipped me off after he broke the law pulling out in front of me, found a hair in their fancy coffee from Starbucks the next day.
Can you imagine the good we, as a people, could do in this world if everyone truly believed in Karma? The truth is, when I helping a lost child find their parent, or when I’ve stopped to push a car that’s stuck in the snow; I have won something right there at that moment — a warm feeling in my heart that has helped another soul. No, it won’t make me rich but it’ll make me happy. Because of that, I will continue to do good things and you should too.
Can you imagine a world where everyone followed karma? People would be happier, the planet would be healthier and the chocolate chip cookies would be delicious.
What do you believe?
Do you trust in karma, or do you believe that the good things that come to you in life are hard earned and have nothing to do with who you are?
