Your feed should not make you anxious.

Are your shoulders tense? Do you have a headache? You don’t have to keep watching things that make you feel worse.
When you go to your feed, you’re basically walking into the same room every day.
Sometimes, every hour. And if you’re bored, or tired or trying to avoid something, you log in more. Your feed has an atmosphere. Some are calm, some are chaotic, some are just too loud. And then there are those that make you mad or uneasy or just “yucky”.
Most of you don’t even think about trimming your feed. You’re afraid of missing out. FOMO.
There are lots of reasons you don’t unfollow:
They’re your old coworkers.
- Habit
- Guilt
- Laziness
- FOMO
…
But here’s the truth:
You don’t owe your attention to anything that stresses you out.
Your nervous system is already doing enough. It doesn’t need a feed full of noise, drama, comparison, or people who post like they’re trying to raise your blood pressure.
Here are some things to look at to see if you need to “Unfollow”.
1. Notice how your body reacts. Do you tense up, scroll faster, try to ignore it?
2. Mute before you unfollow. If you can’t bring yourself to unfollow yet, mute it.
3. Keep what feels good. Not necessarily inspiring or productive. Just good.
4. Your feed is your space. You choose who gets in and who stays. You get to choose what you see every day.
Don’t keep looking at the things that make you tense. Choose not to look.
