You’re a mess. Your heart feels like a glass filled to the brim — one feather’s touch, and it spills, bleeds, and weeps.
You’re lost. Standing at a crossroads, alone and unsure which path to take, you realize you’ve been following their lead all along. They held the lamp and guided your steps — only to abandon you midway. Now, your only companion is betrayal, their parting gift.
You’re confused. They were the ones who pursued you — asking for a second moment, then a third. They were the ones who pushed, even when you were ready to draw a line and step away. They were the ones who convinced you this could work. And then, suddenly, they were the ones who left — without an explanation, without the decency of a goodbye.
You’re ashamed. You let them see too much of you, too soon. You were open, unguarded. Every promise you whispered in the dark was real. And they whispered back — but did they mean it? How could they leave like this if any of it was true? Maybe they’re just a skillful illusionist — good at spinning the unreal into something that felt real, if only for a moment.
You question yourself. What went wrong? Was it something you said, something you did? Even so, can people who truly care vanish without a word? If they cared, could they have left you hanging in limbo, forcing you to be the one to walk away when it was their plan all along?
You try to make sense of their reasons. You want to believe it came from a place of deeper love. But let’s be honest — you can’t grasp their reasons, and that’s it. They could be profound, rooted in something beyond your understanding — or just as likely, unbearably shallow, something you’d never see coming.
You try to move on with the help of anger. You tell yourself they’re a coward, someone who couldn’t face you with the truth. But even that fails, because beneath the pretense of anger, all you feel is love. You’re not sure if it’s them you love or just the memory of what you once shared. But it’s love, nonetheless — undeniable and unapologetic.
And maybe — just maybe — you feel a flicker of relief. You sensed their feelings might never quite match the depth of your own. You worried about what would happen if you ever needed more than they could give. Now, that worry no longer holds relevance.
You wonder if it was a mistake to open your heart like this. But then you realize — people can only do what they’re capable of. They never asked for your love. You loved because that’s what you’re capable of — loving. And in that realization, the mystery of why they left gets solved — leaving is what they’re capable of.
Finally, you come to a point where everything starts to settle. Your love is vast enough to embrace all that’s supposedly wrong and make it right. It’s so boundless and free that it no longer seeks closure, explanations, or goodbyes. It dissolves fear, anger, shame, longing, and everything else you feel. All that remains is love — and with it, your heart grows a pair of wings.
