Kazimierz Dabrowski (September 1, 1902–November 26, 1980)
Polish born doctor of medicine and philosophy, studied in Paris, Geniva, Wilnus, Harvard, Baltimore nad Canada. Received multiple grands from Rockefeller Foundation, Ford and ONZ to name but a few.
Professor Dabrowski was known for pushing the line between healthy psyche and mental illnes. He was the author of the Positive Disintegration Theory, which declares that the most effective way of self development is through disintegration of the primal personality on different levels to begin with. Puting the pieces back together would create new supreme personality. In his theory, the disintegration is the driving force for development. It can be chaotic and spontaneous at first, but then we learn to navigate the process.
Professor Dabrowski initiated and fomented the move for general psychological hygiene, wrote theses on the conditions of suicide, worked with kids morally or psychologically disturbed. He was a strong advocate for humaniarian patient treatment at the times of lobotomy being amost aclaimed and spread psychological procedure.
Message to highly sensitive people
(translation — Diana Mroczek)
Greetings, highly sensitive people,
for your tenderness in the callousness of the world, for your insecurity — among it’s certainty
for feeling others like yourselves, getting infected with every torment
for the fear of the world, it’s blind certainty that has no limit
for the need of cleaning your hands from even the invisible earthly dirt,
greetings.
Greetings, highly sensitive people,
for your fear of the existential absurdity
and the gentleness of not saying to others what you see in them
for the helplessness in ordinary matters and the ability to interact with extraordinariness
for transcendental realism and lack of life realism,
for the maladjustment to what is and adjustment to what should be
for what is infinite — unknown — unspoken
hidden in you.
Greetings, highly sensitive people,
for your creativity and ecstasy
for your avid friendships, love and fear
that love could die yet before you
Greetings
for your talents — never utilised (underestimation of your greatness will not allow to recognise the greatness of those, who come after you)
for the fact that they want to change you, instead of following you
that you are being fixed instead of fixing the world
for your divine gifts ravaged by brut force
for uniqueness and loneliness of your paths
Greetings, highly sensitive people
