Learn Navy SEAL David Rutherford’s 8 tips to more self-confidence.
—
Self-confidence is believing in yourself, and believing in yourself is one of the most important factors in becoming a full-rounded enlightened man. It’s often said that “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” but if a man doesn’t believe in himself, believe that he can make it, endure the pain, endure the suffering, then he’ll never take that first step … and he’ll sure as hell never make it a thousand miles.
“He learns that “I can,” and eventually “I can,” becomes his routine.”

The good news is that self-confidence is easy to develop. But before we get started in the steps, we need to clear the air about what self-confidence is and isn’t. There are two forms of self-confidence. One is the ego type. Imagine a thug, drug-dealer, on the side of the corner, talking trash, someone who thinks he’s “all that.” He might appear to be self-confidence, but in reality he’s not. He’s simply putting on a mask. His belief in himself is based on ego not experience. He hasn’t earned it. This is an unhealthy type of self-confidence. On the other side, you have someone who’s earned their self-confidence.
Imagine a soldier. A soldier goes through training, he’s put in uncomfortable positions, pushed beyond his limits, he doesn’t cling to results, only growth. He repeats his training again and again, “The more we bleed in peace, the less we bleed in war.” He continually pushes himself. He doesn’t mask his fear or insecurity and he acts courageously in the face of that fear. He is self-confident not because of his ego, but because of his experiences. Through training and hard work he’s come to believe in himself. He learns that “I can,” and eventually “I can,” becomes his routine. This is the true heart of self-confidence.
I strongly believe that all men could benefit from a boost in healthy self-confidence and what better way to learn about self-confidence than from Navy SEAL David Rutherford. David served 8 years as a SEAL and is now a motivational coach. He helps people develop their self-confidence and teaches individuals/organizations how to live a team-oriented lifestyle. What follows are eight short 1-2 minute videos of David detailing his method for developing greater self-confidence.
