I’m learning to sing.
I’ve never been great at it,
and I don’t think that’ll change.
But the thing is,
I’m learning to sing,
and that’s what matters.
I’m learning to listen to people
who know more than me —
and trust them when they say
I’m off-key.
I’m learning to look past my own expectations,
to expect nothing and instead soak in
the moment.
I’m learning to let go of my ego,
which has always gotten in the way
of my ability to sing.
I’m learning that singing is about more
than just singing well;
it’s about bringing joy into the lives of others
through music,
which is something we all have access to
if we want it enough.
