Remember the man who ignored God’s help?
There was a flood. A Noah’s-Ark-like flood.
The man was stranded on his roof. There was nowhere to go.
He was a dead man sitting.
Then, a boat came. An actual real-life boat. Surely now he was saved!?
Here’s what the man says:
“No, it’s okay, I don’t need to be saved. God will save me.”
Confused and thinking this man is an idiot, the captain of the boat leaves.
But, miraculously, another boat comes along.
“Hey, get in! Quick!” the captain says.
“No, thank you! I don’t need to. God will save me.”
“What!? Just get in!”
“Thanks, but no,” says the man.
Completely baffled, the captain leaves.
The water is getting dangerously high now. The man is in real danger of drowning, and he can feel it in his heartbeat. He panicked. He’s looking around and doesn’t see anything, especially not God.
But.
Then.
A helicopter.
He’s saved.
Actually, he’s not. You can probably guess: God will save him.
So, it goes.
The man drowns.
He ascends to heaven.
He sees God.
He’s angry. He says:
“Hey, I was drowning! Why didn’t you save me?”
God looks at him. He replies:
“I sent you two boats and a helicopter. What more did you want?”
The point is: the salad is on the menu, and the vegetables are in the supermarket.
In other words…the opportunities to eat healthily are there. They’re all around you. They’re everywhere you look.
If you’re willing to see.
Will it take effort to look for the healthy options, at first, when you’re not used to it?
Of course.
Will it be uncomfortable, annoying, and frustrating?
Yes. I promise you that.
Will you want to choose the options you usually go for, the ones you’re habituated to even though they don’t actually make you proud or happy?
Yes. So much yes.
And this is exactly why most people don’t even take two steps on the path to mastering their diet and never end up living as healthily as they could, and never step into the version of themselves they see in their head.
Because it is not easy.
Because you will come up against failure.
Because you will be confronted by your “stuff.” (I know you know what I mean).
Because you have the opportunity right there in front of you to save yourself, but an opportunity means nothing if you don’t take it.
There are so many boats and so many helicopters, if you look to see. There really are.
Get on one.
