Inspired by a dialogue from the movie Set It Up (2018),
I just thought of jotting down a few lines.
The dialogue goes like this —
“You like because and you love despite.
You like someone because of all of their qualities.
And you love someone despite some of their qualities.”
It really makes a lot of sense.
Because it is true.
You like someone because they are kind.
Because they smile often.
Because they talk sweet.
You like someone because of their hobbies.
Their way of seeing the world.
Their way of making you feel special.
But love?
Love is different.
You love someone despite their anger.
Despite their silence during fights.
Despite the habits that annoy you every single day.
Love does not need perfection.
It asks for patience.
You love not because everything feels right.
But because you choose to stay when it feels wrong.
You love even when they are distant.
Even when they fail.
Even when they are not the person you first liked.
Love is not because.
Love is despite.
If you are lucky enough to love someone despite…
Hold on.
That is rare.
That is beautiful.
Do you love someone like that?
or are you still searching for your ‘because’?
