“Pay it forward” means to reciprocate kindness not by directly repaying the person who was kind to you, but by doing a kind deed for someone else. It’s a concept of passing on goodwill and good deeds to create a cycle of positivity. The idea is that by extending kindness to others, you inspire them to do the same, creating a domino effect of generosity and compassion from one person to another and then another.
“Pay It Forward” is the title of a novel written by Catherine Ryan Hyde that was published in 1999. A year later, it was made into a movie and starred Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel Osment, among many other credited actors and actresses.
The concept of “Karma” originated from Sanskrit and Pali and is the core concept in the religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It refers to the principle of cause and effect, suggesting that actions have consequences both in the present life and potentially in future lives. Good actions are believed to lead to positive outcomes, while bad actions can result in negative ones. There is a lot of truth to this concept. My Mother always told me, “You reap what you sow.”
The “domino effect” refers to a chain reaction where one event triggers a series of related events, typically in rapid succession. It’s often used to describe how one action or occurrence can lead to a cascading series of consequences. Just like a row of dominoes falling into each other.
We all live on this planet together and our actions affect and effect the ones around us whether we intend for them to or not. So, why not be positive and spread kindness? Isn’t that what you want for yourself and the ones that you care about? If you do, then you just may find that it comes right back around to you.
