In one of the most haunting moments of Pink Floyd’s The Wall, the lead character (Pink) scarred by a lost father, the cold war, an anemic educational culture and an overbearing mother sings:
Mother do you think they’ll drop the bomb?
Mother do you think they’ll like this song?
Mother do you think they’ll try to break my balls?
Mother should I build the wall?
Pink, fatherless, scared, and insecure, looks out the seemingly hostile world as a thoroughly disempowered man, worried about his balls and wanting to build a big wall to keep danger away.
In the album and the film, this apotheosis of a castrated boy becomes, of course, a raging, narcissistic, fascist tyrant who calls upon the worst instincts of the disenchanted public.
It’s a familiar story, a story that ends in rage, school shootings, the celebration of separation and domination, regressive nationalism, authoritarianism, and the abuse and denigration of women.
There is a better way, which is why we have convened The Inspired Man Summit.
On Day 2 of the Summit, we explore not only how to prevent lost boys from becoming men who cause pain and loss but also look at the positive edges of just how noble, strong, and solid a good man can be.
Today’s interviews include Dr. Warren Farrell, author of the new book, The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys are Struggling and What to Do About It. Dr. Farrell outlines how society is failing boys who are given little guidance on what it is to be a man having lost connection with their dads and meaningful rites of passage and cultural heroes that offer deep inspiration.
Dr. Farrell also traces a fascinating disjuncture between what he calls “heroic intelligence” which encourages boys and men to hurt themselves to prove their worth and health intelligence, which will lead to a very different kind of admired masculine, happier men, and a different world.
The second session features Dr. Robert Glover, author of No More Mr. Nice Guy in which he describes how men who grew up with destructive, distant, disapproving, or violent fathers can overcome their subconscious revulsion of the masculine, and learn how to live a grounded life, proud to be a good man who values himself as a man.
Glover calls this process of re-finding and living self-worth “recovery.”
And finally, the third session features Satyen Raja, the CEO and founder of WarriorSage, which for decades has led men and women into profound experiences of mutual understanding, passionate polarity, and profound service of each other’s growth and happiness.
In this session, Satyen, a well-known and widely-loved teacher and workshop leader, walks the viewer through the three pillars of what he calls the Enlightened Masculine: presence, penetration, and claim.
Most people understand what presence is, but what he means by penetration and claim are far from the popular and crass understandings of those words.
Tune in to the Inspired Man Summit and learn from these wise men as we explore what it means to embody the positive masculine in its many incarnations, from an early age and right into manhood.
It is only by raising men who value themselves and value women that we can avoid the rise of tinpot dictators like Pink, as well as tyrants of other colors.
Session I: Goes Live at 4 PM EST. How to Live Presence, Claim and Penetration – with Satyen Raja, CEO, WarriorSage
Satyen Raja is many things: a highly successful business owner, a martial artist, a unique blend of Eastern wisdom traditions and Western success practices, and a high-level confidant and advisor to CEO’s.
He has decades of experience teaching deep masculine and feminine dynamics, and in today’s session, he gives you an advanced look into the 3 pillars of the profound masculine.
Session II: Goes Live at 6 PM EST. The Empowered Masculine, with Dr. Robert Glover
Best known as the author of the book, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Dr. Glover delivers a heavy dose of reality in this session. He has recently recovered from a brush with death and his new appreciation of life only reinforces his teachings on how to stand for your desires and needs – despite whatever upbringing or social pressures come your way.
Session III: Goes Live at 8 PM EST. You Can Win Without Losing, with Dr. Warren Farrell
Warren has been at the forefront of fighting for the mental health and financial rights of men for over four decades. Once a board member of the National Organization of Women, he discovered that no one really wanted to hear about the pain of men.
In this far-reaching session, we explore how boys, men – you – have been socialized to believe that the best use of your masculinity is to sacrifice your body – and perhaps your life.
You have been socialized to believe that the only way you can win in life is to lose.
