Relapse
I stand before you a humbled man
I have failed yet again;
I make no excuses God is my judge
Lord forgive me of my sins
He provided a way out
of every temptation
but I ignored his call
I was doing so well
I am beyond disgusted
I hear Satan say I knew you would fall
I can’t be the degenerate
that I once was
I made real strides to change
My God I’ve done wrong
I have gone astray
pleasure has turned into pain
After the prodigal son dishonored his father
amongst the swine he came to himself
I can’t do this without you
I am a wretched man
Lord I need your help
You delivered me from the fowler;
you protected me from the snare
I got myself caught in this trap
I cry out to you
Creator of heaven and earth
Lord let this be my last relapse
I thought I’d lost my mind
many times over
but you preserved my brain keeping me sharp
I should be dead but your grace said no
Lord I thank you
from the bottom of my heart
It would be easy for me
to wallow in regret
or remain in silence and shame
You gave me another chance
so I will worship you
as I wait for better days
You were with me in jail
and every hard time
and I know you are with me now
I give it all to you
I need to overcome addiction
and I need you to show me how
God grant me the strength
and strengthen anyone
battling an addiction like me
Ease their weary minds
touch their troubled hearts
and open up their blind eyes to see
I abused myself with drugs and alcohol
hurt and I can’t help it were my reasons
But I don’t need to be drunk or high
just to get by
all I need is Jesus
Yes I’m stressed to the max
and sometimes I’m scared
but there’s a fire burning deep in my soul
The cross precedes the crown
pressure makes diamonds
and fire purifies gold
God has brought me a mighty long way
yes I fell down
but I’m far from defeated
Thank you Lord
for the conviction in my heart
your strength is made perfect in my weakness
You delivered me from the fowler,
you protected me from the snare
I got myself caught in this trap
I cry out to you
Creator of heaven and earth
Lord this is my last relapse
